O N T H E O U T S I D E ★ HEIGHT: five feet four inches ★ WEIGHT: 117 ★ APPEARANCE: xuân is naturally thin, and rather short. when he tries, he can gain a decent amount of muscle mass, but his natural state is simply bony. he keeps his long hair tied back in a ponytail, but some bangs that can't be trapped always stay in his eyes. when tied back, his hair reaches the middle of his shoulder blades; when it's down, it goes a bit longer, making it to just shy of the middle of his back. occasionally, the black locks get tucked up in a pageboy cap, but strands always manage to escape. everything about him can be described as slight, and he doesn't do much with his posture to fight that idea. he tends to cower before people, eyes cast at the floor rather than looking them in the face. he fidgets a lot, picking at his clothes or skin or rolling his d20 between his fingers. he has a small nose, angular eyes, and a mostly angular face(though some baby fat remains). his hands, much like his face, are delicate, giving him the air of someone who could be knocked over by a particularly strong wind. however, when he feels that a friend of his is threatened, he can quickly grow more brave and firm. he is still loathe to actually fight, if only because he isn't terribly good at it yet,

B E F O R E W E B E G I N [ TRIGGER WARNING FOR MILD TRANSPHOBIA ] Xuân Nguyen was born the youngest of two children into an upper-middle class, Vietnamese-American family. He was assigned female at birth, but knew very early on that it did not fit him. By the age of six, he had entered what his parents called a "tomboy phase," but Xuân knew it was more than that. Over the years, he gave a great deal of effort into presenting as male before he even knew what that meant, and even more effort once he properly discovered his gender identity. His parents refused to accommodate him in any way, driving Xuân to seek a new group of friends. When he was 10, he found a Dungeons and Dragons group, and found his home there. The freedom in character creation gave him the chance he needed to be whoever he wanted, and he quickly became a very avid player. He created two characters that he worked on constantly, fleshing them out into their own people, serving as outlets and personas for Xuân to escape into. He bought his first set of dice with some allowance money, and a specific d20 that he liked the design of. It grew into a comfort item, and it never leaves his side. It helps quell his anxiety attacks, as he can be prone to them in the face of situations that frighten him(i.e. large crowds, intimidating people, confrontation, etc). When he was fourteen, Xuân couldn't stand the feeling of being so closed in by his parents, and came out to them. They rejected him completely, and he closed into himself further, but still tried to be true to himself. Eventually, it got him ejected from his house, with only a duffel bag of his things as a reminder from home. At fifteen, Xuân had nowhere to go. He spent a week wandering and sleeping in bus stops, before finally one of his D and D group members took him in. Later that month, they were going out for pizza, when someone attacked them on the route home. Xuân didn't know it, but it was a Kishin egg. In the midst of the struggle, he noticed something different-- his hand had become the blade of a glaive. Somehow, though he doesn't know how to this day, he managed to injure the Kishin egg enough that it ran away. Dusting himself off and watching his hand return to its' normal state, he noticed his die had fallen to the ground. A sense of triumph overtook him as he saw the little 20 facing up. An appropriate time for a nat 20 to roll. The next day, he was stopped in the street near the pizza shop, by someone who said they'd seen him in the fight. They asked if he was going to attend the DWMA. Xuân had only heard of the place in a vague sense, so he responded with confusion. He was given a location and a number, and was sent away with good tidings in his 'training.' Xuân didn't have far to travel, being from a small town in southern Idaho. But he was faced with one problem: how to get there? His luck won out when he started looking around, because Xuân ran into a weapon-meister pair traveling through the city, on their way to Nevada. He made sure that he could trust their words, before readily agreeing to go with them, and off he went to begin training as a weapon in Death City, Nevada.
